30th Anniversary of 'Up The Mariners' 1978-2008
This is the original sound recording of the Grimsby Town FC Anthem "Up The Mariners" now a collectors item. It was initially released on 7" vinyl 30 years ago, in 1978, to celebrate Grimsby Town FC's Centenary year, of 100 years in football. This Special CD Edition includes, 'Mariners Memories' an audio documentation of GTFC from the very beginning, up to 1978, the 1978/79 and the 2007/08 squad photos, plus the lyrics to the song.

By popular demand of the song from GTFC Fans, in the UK and abroad, it has now been digitally re-mastered and officially re-issued on CD, by Humber Music. A must have for all GTFC fans, and football fans throughout the world.
Football songs come and go, but this football song has really stood the test of time, and has definitely earned its place among the best, in the top favourites list, of collectables.

Les Johnson, composer and producer of the song, who has been writing & recording songs since 1966. In the early 1970's Les took his songwriting more seriously when three of his songs got recorded; 'Sweet Lady Mine', 'Whatcha Gonna Do' and 'Hey Little Girl', he also wrote a theme tune for Yorkshire Television's Calendar programme and wrote several advertising commercial jingles for the radio. He also went on to write and produce another football song, the internationally successful, "Come On The Forest" recorded by 'The FANS' in 1979, on Soccer Records for the then Div:1 football club, Nottinham Forest FC. It was originally released on a 7" vinyl on Soccer Records, when Nottingham Forest were in the FA Cup Final at Wembley and won the European Cup Final 1-0 against Malmo in Munich Germany when Brian Clough was the Manager. The song 'Come On The Forest' soon to be re-issued on CD.
